About the hosting
Brain Injury Association

"The Brain Injury Association of New Mexico is honored and excited to be the first state BIA to host the 10 in 10 Project. We know of many individuals with brain injury and family members in our state, who have been greatly helped by using the Brain Injury Recovery Kit. With the 10 in 10 Project we have a simple, low-cost way to help soldiers and civilians with brain injury begin a new journey in recovery."

Executive Director, BIA of New Mexico

The BIA of New Mexico (BIANM) was selected as the official non-profit BIA host for the launch of the 10 in 10 Project. As the host, they will provide telephone and email response to questions about the Brain Injury Recovery Kit™ and a Quick Support Guide for use of the kit. BIANM will also be processing the part of the Tickets of Hope™ which provides individual's membership to their State Brain Injury Association for education, support and connection to further resources in their state. BIANM is a chartered state affiliate of the Brain Injury Association which was founded in 1980.

"When Sherry Stock, the Executive Director of Brain Injury Association of Oregon, first introduced me to the BIRK in the Spring of 2006, I was quite skeptical. But Sherry was so excited about the possibilities of this kit having just returned from meeting with Lisa Keller and later Clara Holguin of BIANM. Since I have been working with survivors of brain injury and their families since 1989, I reserved a healthy skepticism but I resolved to look over this 'kit'.

As I watched the DVD's, I liked what I saw. In a natural and organic way it was clear to me that the DVD's can help a survivors friends and family begin to appreciate what their loved one must be going through as result of their brain injury.

The Kit is a really a program that provides a means to build understanding, empathy and trust between the survivor and their natural support system, and provides alternatives for the survivor and their families to achieve an improved quality of life. I see the possibilities that the kit can be used in conjunction with other professional therapeutic rehabilitation and also give hope and alternatives when survivors and families do not have the means for or access to professional therapies.

I too am now excited about the possibilities of The Brain Injury Recovery Kit for my own clients and the thousands of people who can derive the benefits of a good support system as well as alternatives for improving the quality of their lives following brain injury."
